John WRAY Private 62976, 6 th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry. Died 5 th October 1917. John Wray was born in Bradford in 1896, and at the time of the 1911 Census the family was living in Harperley Park, Fir Tree. John was working as a driver in a local mine. John enlisted in the 6 th Durham Light Infantry, and landed in France on the 27 th June 1915. He saw immediate front line action, and died from wounds received in battle on the 5 th October 1916, at the age of 20. He was buried in Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension.
