John Wray was born in Bradford in 1896, and at the time of the 1911 Census the family was living in Harperley Park, Fir Tree. John
was working as a driver in a local mine.
John enlisted in the 6
th
Durham Light Infantry, and landed in France on the 27
th
June 1915. He saw immediate front line action, and died
from wounds received in battle on the 5
th
October 1916, at the age of 20. He was buried in Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension.
